i think so too.

I think it's better to have someone,
even if it hurts,

even if it is the most painful
thing you have done,

even if it's the most painful thing
you've ever had to do.
I think it's better to have someone.

My impression of this passage is it was better to have someone in your life even if that someone is causing the hard times.

I wondered about that because that was my thinking and reasoning ( whether I admitted it to myself or not) for trying to prolong a marriage that never should have been.

It was better to be with someone who was causing me pain than to be alone. It also got me thinking that a lot of people stay with abusive spouses using the same rationale.

What is your take on this passage? What are you agreeing to that I am not seeing?

My thoughts on this quote are that it is indeed better to have someone than to not have anyone. Not necessarily in a love relationship but rather to have someone you can count on even when it hurts. When life is so bad that you don't know how to get from the minute you are in to the next one it is better to have someone than to not.

Even if that someone does nothing more than sit quietly beside you it is better to have that person than to look from side to side and realize that you are truly alone.

At some point in our lives we are going to need someone. I don't believe that the person has to be someone close emotionally. Some people have a person. Some are not as fortunate.

Sometimes, someone, anyone, can be a Godsend.

~ b <-- yeah, I am rambling.

I didn't get that from the quote because the first someone and the painful and hurtful are all part of the same sentence.

I do understand what you are saying though. We weren't designed to be alone.

Some times, the best thing to say is nothing. Just being present to our friends when they are in need or pain is very powerful. Like you said, when they look up, they can see that they are not alone.

Sometimes, it's better to let someone alone,
even if it hurts,
even if it is the most painful thing you have done,
even if it's the most painful thing you'll ever do.
But that only means that you truly do have someone...and perhaps that is better.
