When do you put up your Christmas Tree? what kind is it? What do you put atop your tree?
We usually put up our tree about mid-December. Our tree is always a freshly cut tree which we get from a Christmas Tree farm about an hour away. We have gotten our tree from this same farm for approximately 21 years, with the exception of last year when we just ran out of time and bought a tree local. We used to have a star made out of thinly cut white shells atop the tree but after the life altering changes in our home a few years back I let the children choose a new topper. They chose an Angel made out of the same thin white shells. Very pretty choice.

It's a cold and rainy day here left of hell. What is your ideal way to spend a day such as this?
My ideal day is to snuggle up by the fire in my chaise lounge with a hot cup of mocha and a good book or an old movie playing. I often light many candles to complete the cozy settings.

I hit the snooze 3 times. I set my alarm with that in mind so that I can wake up slowly.

Do you bake during the holidays? What is your signature holiday baked good? {or is it goods?}
My mother always baked during the holidays and 2/4 of us kids still do bake extensively. I bake a variety of cookies which include a peanut butter cookie, cream cheese cutout cookies and emerald and ruby sparklers. These are the cookies that if not baked will produce the most amount of fuss from my family. heh!

When do you put up your Christmas Tree? what kind is it? What do you put atop your tree? Generally, the first weekend after Thanksgiving and almost never later than the first week of Advent. It is an artificial, prelit tree purchased last year since the previous one had been put up and taken down for nearly 15 years and was looking kind of sad. On top is usually a lighted angel. I also have a non lighting victorian angel. I am getting a new one this year with an Irish dress and fiber optic wings.

It's a cold and rainy day here left of hell. What is your ideal way to spend a day such as this? Ideally, when I don't have to go to work or some other nonsense, I would spend a day like this with a fire in the woodstove (glass door), lots of candles lit, a warm beverage (tea or coffee), soft music that compliments and doesn't cover the sound of the rain and sit in a comfortable chair (with a blanket handy) and read a book. If someone else is available and agreeable I would play a game like yahtzee, dominoes, cards. Rainy days are good for cuddling and napping too.

Being completely honest tell us how many times you hit the snooze button in the morning? This morning it was all of four and maybe five. At some point I turned of the alarm and was lucky to get up at all.

Do you bake during the holidays? What is your signature holiday baked good? {or is it goods?} I do not bake for myself. I was thrilled last year when I received baked goods from a couple people as gifts.

And it stays up to Epiphany January 7 or the weekend of in time for the tree recyclers to take it. Scotch Pine fresh cut And on top is an angel made from a spoon that oldest made in kindergarden.

Being completely honest tell us how many times you hit the snooze button in the morning? I didn't... I just kept drifting til I forced myself out of bed at 7:10!!!
Dessert ~
Do you bake during the holidays? What is your signature holiday baked good? {or is it goods?} My mom used to bake. I've learned to make Christmas cake. Cream cheese cookies were my favourite... I don't know how to make them.. I hate anything that requires a rolling pin. I have no depth perception. So I make really spicy nuts and bolts and anitpasto instead!
I go to the Cookie Walk at the United Church which is on Saturday! Buy dozens of cookies and freeze them for a few weeks.

What book are you reading T?
a book by Donna Leon... called Suffer the Little Children. It's set in Italy. A mystery story. Her series is about Inspector Brunetti of the Venetian police force. They're entertaining and the descriptions of Venice ... lovely!
